Becoming a Professional Listener
Week One – Know Thyself
If any phrase could summarize the theme for the first week of Becoming a Professional Listener it is, “Know Thyself.” The first five keys of Becoming a Professional Listener help you to complete a self-assessment of your barriers (Day 1) and your Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (Day 2). Then, on days 3 through 5, you will learn the importance of thinking before you listen, being mindful of your listening intentions, and how to best learn from your listening mistakes.
After the first week of keys, you should be able to honestly evaluate your abilities and shortcomings as a listener. This knowledge will set the stage for changing some of the negative behavior you have been enacting and learning various strategies for becoming the professional listener you have always wanted to be.
